A white paper is an authoritative report or guide that informs readers concisely about a complex issue and presents the issuing body’s philosophy on the matter. It is meant to help readers understand an issue, solve a problem, or make a decision. . . .
VEN has a vested interest in the evolution of Vista. The community is often faced with complex technical or procedural problems, which are mostly solved in an ad hoc manner. Sometimes, this works beautifully. At other times, it can create chaos—sometimes beautiful chaos, but sometimes unnecessarily ugly.
To that end, we freqently analyze such problems—and we’ve been just as guilty of ad hoc approaches as anyone else. We’re trying to change that, though, by sharing our thoughts and making our practices more open to constructive criticism.
We invite whitepapers from all members of the Vista community, and we’ll be publishing ours occasionally as well.
