Vista

Vista is a comprehensive medical software suite, developed initially by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Originally designed for large VA medical centers, it can be scaled down to support smaller community hospitals and even clinics. There are more than a hundred modules available to automate all aspects of a medical facility. The Vista software is available free of charge, although considerable knowhow is required to successfully install and configure it.

Some of Vista’s strengths:

  • Flexible architecture with limitless customizability

  • Ability to scale from a small clinic to large hospital group

  • Robust software with decades of success in the medical field

  • Open source code, no license fees

  • Committed user community

  • Compact footprint and efficient resource utilization
